The Trotternish Peninsula of Skye

Tigh Cilmartin is situated in the heart of the Trotternish peninsular which is arguably the most scenic area on Skye. It contains the dramatic mountain pinnacles called The Quiraing, and the towering basalt cliffs of Kilt Rock.

Staffin Bay has a large sandy beach, and the Fairy Glen near Uig has gentle hills and small freshwater lochans. Both of these are ideal for children to explore.

The area is rich in historical and archaeological sites, with a number of duns and standing stones and a ruined castle at Duntulm.

Trotternish is an area where traditional crofting still takes place, and you are likely to see plenty of sheep and cattle and, depending on the time of year, peat-cutting and hay-making in progress.

For those interested in walking, bird watching, or just soaking up the beauty and unspoilt landscape of this area, we offer comfortable and relaxing surroundings from which to explore.

Trotternish, the eastern wing of the Isle of Skye, justifiably boasts more than its fair share of natural beauty.

Trotternish ranks high as one of the most historic areas of Scotland and has a strong link with Prince Charles Edward Stewart and his escape to France aided by Flora MacDonald who was born and buried here. Tha Cottage Luib
